Ricardo Maio was born in Salvador-Bahia (Brazil) in 1972. At the age of nineteen, he had his first contact with photography through the Econews Agency, founded by photographers Peter Feibert, Walter Firmo, Luiz Garrido and Ana Lontra Jobim. He recalls that its first photography lesson was to observe Walter Firmo photographing the Corcovado from the window of the Agency in Rio de Janeiro.
Graduated in cinema from the University Estácio de Sá and post-graduated in photography by the Candido Mendes University, he worked in the national archives and the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro in cataloging and census of films.
As a freelance photographer, he worked for newspapers and magazines, as well as for catalogs of companies, events and advertising.
In 2004 the Editorial Clio publishes the book "Pão de Açúcar, a marca do Rio" with his photos and texts of Nilza Resende.
He currently lives in Barcelona and works in the areas of photography, film and video, both in advertising and entertainment, and for companies and institutions from Brazil and Spain. It also carries out projects in computer graphics and 3D.
